I just finished watching The Apprentice Season 6: Los Angeles Fifth Episode.
I did not enjoy this episode because it the challenge of selling honey did not involve any great skills or creativity. I still think the format is flawed in having the winning manager present in boardroom. In watching both teams compete, I would have chosen Aimee as the weakest link. Luckily her team won despite her leadership. So she was not eligible to be fired. But she certainly was a know-it-all in the boardroom. I liked watching some of her surprised reactions to her comments. On the other team, there were two candidates for going home, Surya and Aaron. Choosing between the two was a difficult decision. Surya was all talk and no action. Aaron did not seem to be as focused and organized as he should have been. Given the choice between the two, I would have fired Surya. I did not like his blathering on and on about marketing concepts when time was running short. Rather than focusing on the task, he was focusing on displaying his knowledge. And when it came time for sales, he was ineffectual. Trump decided, however, to fire Aaron. I think he was giving Surya the benefit of the doubt from having gone from a winning to a losing team, and he was unimpressed with Aaron's lack leadership and lack of commentary from the prior week. It was a tough call.
So far I do not see any outstanding candidates. Nobody has differentiated themselves as strong contenders. Having the winning manager repeat as manager does not allow the viewer the opportunity to see quickly the strengths and weaknesses of all the candidates. Perhaps the show will change in some fashion to allow us viewers to get to know the candidates better.
