Canada celebrates its 140th birthday today. Canada was founded this day back in 1867. Happy Birthday Canada! Those of us born here are extremely fortunate, and those that have immigrated to Canada have made this country richer with their diversity. Canada is a great country, full of promise.
I attended the Canada Day opening ceremonies and remained for about three hours at the main stage in Prince's Park, Calgary, Alberta this afternoon. Given that Calgary is one of Canada's most prosperous cities, if not the most prosperous city, in Canada with over one million people, I am a little underwhelmed by our Welcome to Canada Day. One hopes it is not indicative of our civic pride.
While at the ceremonies, I spotted a beautiful girl with her face all painted up with a Maple Leaf. I asked her family and received permission to photograph her. Now that represents pride in Canada.
